Private Menopause Consultation and Support
Menopause and perimenopause can affect people in very different ways. Some experience relatively mild changes, while others develop symptoms that disrupt their sleep, relationships, work or general well-being. Having enough time to discuss those symptoms and understand the available options can make this stage of life feel more manageable.
Right Medicine Pharmacy offers a private, personalised menopause consultation with Rebecca Wicks, an experienced pharmacist and independent prescriber with a specialist interest in menopause. The service provides dedicated time to discuss your symptoms, concerns and treatment options in a supportive setting.
Appointments are available online, with in-person consultations currently offered in Forth Valley, Lothian and Hamilton.
What Are Perimenopause and Menopause?
Perimenopause is the period leading up to menopause, when hormone levels begin to change and symptoms may develop. This transition can last for several years, and symptoms may change over time.
Menopause is reached when periods have stopped for 12 consecutive months and there is no other medical reason for them to have stopped. It usually occurs naturally between the ages of 45 and 55, with the average age in the UK being around 51.
Menopause before the age of 45 is described as early menopause. When periods stop before the age of 40, this may be diagnosed as premature ovarian insufficiency. Menopause can also happen following surgery or certain medical treatments, including chemotherapy.

When Could a Menopause Consultation Help?
Menopause symptoms are not limited to hot flushes or changes to periods. Hormonal changes can affect physical health, emotional well-being, sleep and concentration.
A private consultation may be helpful if you are experiencing:
- Changes to the frequency or pattern of your periods
- Hot flushes or night sweats
- Difficulty sleeping or persistent tiredness
- Low mood, anxiety or changes in confidence
- Problems with memory or concentration
- Headaches, joint discomfort or muscle aches
- Vaginal dryness, discomfort or urinary symptoms
- Changes to sexual well-being
- Symptoms following surgery or medical treatment
- Questions or concerns about hormone replacement therapy
You do not need to have decided whether you want treatment before arranging an appointment. Our Menopause 360 Consultation is available as an advice-only service for people who want time to understand their symptoms and consider their next steps.

You must complete the requested medical history information and menopause symptom score at least 24 hours before the follow-up appointment.
Discussing HRT and Other Options
Hormone replacement therapy, commonly called HRT, can relieve a range of menopause symptoms by replacing hormones that have declined. Different forms and combinations are available, and the most appropriate option depends on factors such as your symptoms, medical history and personal preferences.
HRT is not the only subject that can be discussed. Your consultation may also cover lifestyle measures, exercise, nutrition, sleep, emotional well-being and non-hormonal approaches. Rebecca can help you understand the available information and prepare questions for your GP or another healthcare professional.
The services and prices listed on this page are for advice-only consultations. If ongoing private treatment is considered appropriate, the available options, clinical requirements and full costs should be explained before you decide whether to proceed. Treatment is not guaranteed following a consultation.
Personalised and Confidential Menopause Support
Menopause is a personal experience, and there is no single approach that suits everyone. Your consultation provides time to explain how symptoms affect you, understand reliable health information and consider suitable next steps without feeling rushed.
If you have questions about other medicines you already use, our Medicine Advice service may also be helpful.
