Private Blood Testing at Right Medicine Pharmacy
Blood tests can provide useful information about different aspects of your health, from vitamin and hormone levels to markers associated with diabetes, thyroid function and cardiovascular health.
Right Medicine Pharmacy offers convenient private blood testing at selected branches in partnership with Randox Health Laboratories. Samples are collected by trained phlebotomists in a professional pharmacy setting and sent for laboratory analysis.
Once testing is complete, your results will be emailed to you in a clear scale-bar report. You can then discuss the findings with your GP or another qualified healthcare professional where appropriate.
Why Choose Our Blood Testing Service?
Our service provides access to a broad selection of health tests without requiring a GP referral. Depending on your circumstances, you may choose a general health screen or a more focused panel relating to a particular aspect of your health.
Benefits include:
- Appointments at selected community pharmacy locations
- Samples collected by trained phlebotomists
- A wide selection of individual tests and health panels
- Laboratory analysis through Randox Health Laboratories
- Results sent directly to your email address
- A confidential and professional pharmacy environment
You can learn more about the laboratory provider on the Randox Health pathology services website.

How Does the Blood Testing Service Work?
1. Choose an Appropriate Test
Review the available panels and consider what information you want from the test. If you are uncertain which option is most appropriate, contact the pharmacy before booking.
A broad panel is not always necessary. Equally, a narrowly focused test may not investigate every possible cause of a symptom. Persistent or concerning symptoms should be discussed with a GP rather than relying only on private testing.
2. Book Your Appointment
Arrange an appointment at a participating Right Medicine Pharmacy. Availability varies by branch, so select a location offering the blood test you require.
A £25 non-refundable deposit is required to secure the appointment. This is deducted from the total price of your chosen test.
3. Prepare for Your Test
Preparation requirements vary. Some tests may require fasting, collection at a particular time of day or temporary avoidance of specific supplements. Follow the instructions provided by the pharmacy.
Do not stop prescribed medication unless the clinician responsible for your care has told you to do so. Bring a list of medicines and supplements if they may be relevant to the test.
4. Attend the Pharmacy
A trained phlebotomist will collect a venous blood sample. Tell them if you have previously felt faint during a blood test, have difficulty providing samples or have concerns about needles.
Wear clothing that allows easy access to your arm and make sure you have followed any hydration or fasting instructions supplied for your chosen panel.
5. Receive Your Results
Your results will be delivered by email in a scale-bar report. Turnaround times vary according to the selected test, so ask the pharmacy when results are expected.
The report provides laboratory measurements, but it does not replace a consultation or provide a complete diagnosis. Results must be considered alongside your symptoms, medical history, medicines and other clinical information.

Important Information About Allergy Results
An allergy blood test can identify sensitisation by detecting relevant antibodies. A positive result does not necessarily prove that exposure to the substance causes a clinical allergic reaction.
Results should be interpreted alongside your symptoms, medical history and pattern of exposure. Do not remove important foods from your diet solely because of a private blood-test result, particularly when testing concerns a child or a food that provides significant nutrition.
Seek urgent medical help if you develop symptoms of a severe allergic reaction, including difficulty breathing, swelling of the mouth or throat, severe dizziness or collapse. Private blood testing is not an emergency service.

Understanding Your Blood-Test Results
A result outside the report’s reference range does not automatically confirm that you have a health condition. Reference ranges can vary, and results may be influenced by factors such as age, sex, medicines, hydration, recent food intake, exercise and the time at which the sample was collected.
Similarly, results within a reference range cannot exclude every health problem. Speak to your GP or another qualified healthcare professional if:
- A result is marked as abnormal or requires attention
- You have persistent, worsening or unexplained symptoms
- You need help interpreting several results together
- You are considering changing medication or treatment
- You require further investigation or repeat testing
NHS Inform provides general information about what happens during a blood test and the purposes of commonly requested measurements.
Do not begin, stop or change prescribed medication based solely on a private blood-test report. Treatment decisions should be made with an appropriately qualified clinician who understands your medical history.
Other Pharmacy Health Checks
If you want to assess a specific cardiovascular marker without selecting a laboratory panel, our Private Cholesterol Testing service provides five lipid measurements using a finger-prick sample.
You can also arrange a Private Blood Pressure Check or visit our Medicine Advice page if you have questions about an existing treatment.
Deposit and Rescheduling Terms
A £25 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your blood-testing appointment. The deposit will be deducted from the total cost of the selected test.
If you need to change your appointment, the pharmacy can reschedule it when at least 24 hours’ notice is provided.
If the service is considered unsuitable following the initial assessment, or the sample cannot be collected, the deposit will be retained as a consultation fee and will not be refunded.
